67) When he noticed it for the first time, he didn’t say anything. She didn’t even realize she was doing it, and he was scared she would notice and never do it again. So he only watched as she bit her lip, her eyes focused on her water bending, and when her lip began to bleed, she only smiled and licked it off. Mako didn’t know if he wanted to shiver with pleasure, or scold her for being so careless. He managed to ignore both urges and settled with standing still, when she did it a second time he nearly shouted out. She laughed and glanced at him, he realized she was doing it on purpose.
66) Korra had impeccable memory, when it was something important to her. She remembered the way her mother cooked, the smell that wafted through their home and the spices that spilled around the floor. She could recall meeting Katara for the first time, the struggle of pain and happiness in her eyes striking a strong emotion in a small Korra. The one thing she would always remember though, the one thing she had kept with her for so long was that feeling of being peaceful. She can remember a night she was given, to go home from her training, and she sat outside, the sounds of her dad working and her mother humming, the feel of her warm coat wrapped tightly around her. The feeling of being calm and carefree, and just being safe. Being home.
65) The one time Toph asked Sokka to write a letter for her.
“Dear Twinkle toes I would like-“
“Tooooph, ” Sokka groaned, already dropping the pencil on the desk, “I’m not writing that. The last time I did, Aang called me ponytail for far too long.”
Toph scoffed, “He only called you that for a week, and this is my letter. You are writing it for me. Now shut up and continue.”
Sokka grumbled under his breath, picking up the pencil and writing down what she had told him to, “Okay you can keep going.”
“I would like to ask you to join me and Sokka on a vacation trip-“
“Why don’t you invite Katara too?” Sokka asked scribbling down what she said as she stalked over to his seat.
“You’re her brother. You want your little sister and her boyfriend to be hanging around while we are on vacation? They might see that as a chance to have a free honeymoon.” Toph collapsed in the seat across from him kicking him in the shin, “Now stop interrupting me and let me keep writing.”
After a loud yelp of exclamation from Sokka and a hushed reluctant apology from Toph, the letter writing ensued.
“This vacation will be in Ba Sing Se, due to some complications-“
“Toph, I don’t want to go to Ba Sing Se. I’m there every year, and you practically live there-“
Suddenly Sokka’s chair was out from under him and he was flat on his back on the floor.
A few seconds of stunned silence passed before Sokka realized what had happened.
“Ow!” He shrieked sitting up slowly, a hand to his precious and rather large head.
“I asked you nicely to stop interrupting me and what do you do? You keep doing it anyways.” She sighed tiredly, leaning back in her chair.
“You’d think I’d get sick of you throwing me around all the time.”
She smirked, “You’d think.”
64) One day Korra became extremely sick. She slept most of the day, only waking to eat or take medicine, but she still felt lonely since Pema was the only one in and out of the room. So the next day when she woke up with a warm plate of food and Jinora reading a book in the corner, she felt a little more at ease. Korra never asked why she was there and Jinora never told her how she tended to talk in her sleep when she was sick.
63) Korra loved to skip sleeping. She used to hate it, and most of the time she would get cranky, but there were these few nights when she would sneak out and roam the city. She liked to see the usually busy town asleep, calm, empty. After awhile, the nights alone turned to walks of company. A certain firebender matching her steps as she got to Republic City.
62) Katara is the only one who notices the many habits Tenzin picked up from Sokka. She remembers a time when Tenzin first sat in meetings, listening to his father argue quietly with Sokka who was loud and very strong in his decisions. She remembers the times when Tenzin would hardly speak to anyone, except on lazy walks Sokka insisted they take when he visited the Island. Now Tenzin is loud and commanding, he talks as much as he thinks is acceptable which often happens to be too much. He’s tried to eliminate the urge to use his arms during conversation but often slips when he’s rather fond of something. It’s something Katara cherishes to watch. She knows Sokka was an important person in his life, but it makes her smile to see just how much of an impact he had on Tenzin.
61) When Korra first heard about Aang she was tired, hungry, cranky and newly four years old. She didn’t want to hear the story her grandmother was telling her, she didn’t want to sit still for five minutes and she certainly did not want to learn why her home was such a special place to so many ‘important’ people. So naturally she threw a fit, she pouted and crossed her arms and stared at everything other than the old woman who was going on about glowing tattoos and strong winds. Korra didn’t even realize it, but her grandmother did. As the night dragged on and the cold was beginning to settle, Korra began to fight her sleepiness. She had decided at some point that the story was more important than being asleep.
60) Katara never mentions it but she hates to fly. After the situation with Appa she had problems getting on other sky bison. Appa had been depressed after Aang had died and would only eat or sleep if she was near, so on a whim of desperation she took him up to the Eastern Air Temple. Appa slowly became better but Katara knew he was also old. She stayed with him for a month as he slept and ate and moved around the island but eventually he became too tired. On his last night she laid on his back, his slow breathing and soft growls the only comfort as she cried into his fur. When she left the island with a bison that wasn’t hers and an airbender that was her son, she felt lost. It was the first time she rode a sky bison that wasn’t Appa.
59) Korra always had these deep feelings that she couldn’t always explain. They usually happened randomly, like the one time Katara hugged her she just felt like she was home. Or the time she saw Tenzin trapped and in danger she felt immense anger and worry. Even when she played with the airbending kids she felt like she was on top of the world. At first she thought it was her, but it just felt different. Like the emotion was there, affecting her, but it was almost out of reach, something she saw rather than felt. She soon found out it was Aang, but she didn’t figure this out until much later when she was in the spirit world talking to him about his grandchildren. It was then she felt on top of the world again.
58) After that one game of pro-bending, Tenzin found himself hooked. To ease his obsession he would sneak up to the roof and listen to the matches as the White Lotus guards listened in as well. Everything had gone fine until Korra found him one night. He was waiting for her teasing, her questions and loud laughter, but instead all he got was a smile and her company. After that they spent many nights listening in to games on that roof, their loud cheering echoing across the island.
